Welcome to the Lexington Youth Lacrosse Boys SELECT Program
LYL Boys' Program recognizes and appreciates that we have players whose desires, when it comes to lacrosse. represent a diverse range of competitiveness, drive, and dedication. For those players who desire a higher level of coaching and a more intense and challenging experience, LYL provides a spring Select Team season.
Akin to travel soccer or travel hockey, the Select Team roster comprises the top and most dedicated players as determined by a tryout process. The Select Teams participate in the highly competitive MBYLL Spring Select League, where they compete against other elite lacrosse towns across Massachusetts and greater New England.
Making a Select Team is a BIG HONOR and a BIG COMMITMENT.
In order to be competitive in the Select League, LYL has developed an enhanced curriculum specific for the Select level that provides players with fast paced drills, advanced situational instruction, and complex lacrosse concepts. As a result, Select players are expected to attend a majority of their scheduled practices and games so that the entire team develops the necessary skills to play as a cohesive unit.
IMPORTANT NOTE: By league rule, participation on the Select team is in addition to player participation on a Classic team (see Program Overview). As a result, the Select player will have a total of 3 practices per week (2 Classic + 1 Select) and 2 games per week (1 Classic + 1 Select). Play time is dependent on demonstration of skill competency and application during practices.
The cost to participate on the Select team is $150 in addition to standard LYL fees. Tryouts for the following year take place in late May and players invited to participate will be provided with instructions for registration and payment. Select players are encouraged to participate in the LYL Fall Session, and players who did not make the Select team may earn their way onto the team through their performance during the Fall Session
